Odessey expects 50k more walk-ins with Rowling’s next fleak

Posted by retailigence on November 23, 2008

Odyssey, a wholly-owned leisure retail arm of the Hyderabad-based media group, Deccan Chronicle Holdings, is all set to launch famous author, J.K Rowling’s latest book — The Tales of Beedle the Bard. The book is scheduled to be launched on December 4 across all the Odessey stores.

While the last of the Harry Potter series was the most anticipated and well received, Odyssey is expecting a consistent increase with the new release as well.

Talking about the pre-launch booking figures, Harsh R Grandhe, vice president – marketing, Odyssey India Ltd, said, “We expect pre-booking for about 5,000 copies. Considering that JK Rowling is by far the most popular author in the fantasy genre, we expect about 50,000 additional walk-ins during the period of pre-booking and book release.”

The Tales of Beedle the Bard is also a plot device in the seventh novel of the Harry Potter series, Deathly Hallows, in which it is bequeathed to Hermione Granger by Albus Dumbledore. The book is described as a popular collection of Wizarding children’s fairy tales.
